About Dora

Dora is one of the pioneering Singaporean harpists to have pursued a music degree in London. She studied with Daphne Boden, Rachel Masters and Imogen Barford while at the Royal College of Music (UK). While at college, Dora had opportunities to undertake projects featuring contemporary music which includes Boulez's Sur incises that is part of RCM's 'New Perspectives' concert series. In addition to being a soloist, Dora also performs works for harp and flute as part of the Reiphos duo. The pair has won second prize in the Enkor International Music Competition in the Chamber Music category.

Since learning the harp at age 13, Dora has given solo, ensemble, chamber and orchestral performances around the world, including Singapore, France, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Some of the notable venues include the Esplanade, The Arts House, University Cultural Centre, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concert Hall, Singapore Arts Museum, the Shaw foundation Symphony Stage, National Concert Hall (Taiwan), the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall (UK) and the Britten Theatre in the Royal College of Music. She has also played in several harp festivals in Singapore as well as the Camac 40th anniversary celebrations in Théâtre Quartier Libre (France).

Throughout her career, Dora has received invaluable guidance from some of the world’s most renowned harpists, including Marisa Robles, Isabelle Moretti, Isabelle Perrin, Florence Sitruk, Catherine Michel, Sivan Magen, Sylvain Blassel, Gabriella Dull'Olio and Ann Yeung. Her extensive performance experience and exposure to a variety of musical styles give her a unique perspective that she brings to her teaching.

Before her UK studies, Dora attended Anglo-Chinese Junior College, where she received the ‘Young Performer Award’ in 2011. She performed Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp as a soloist with the school’s string orchestra and at the Ministry of Education’s Snapshots concert.

A versatile musician, Dora also holds an ABRSM Grade 8 in piano and has studied organ and guzheng. Outside music, she was a competitive swimmer in her schooldays, representing PLMGS (Primary), MGS, and ACJC at the National Schools Swimming Championships. Her passion for mentoring and her multifaceted background gives her a unique ability to connect with students from all walks of life.

"As an adult learner, I always thought that learning a new instrument will definitely be tough, especially the harp which at first looks incredibly complex! But Dora's patience and constant encouragement ever since the beginning has made the journey so much easier. What I enjoy most about her lessons is that we are taught to understand the music and convey those feelings to others.

Dora tailors her teaching to fit her students' needs, making every lesson enjoyable. Looking back, I managed to see my progress and how much l've learnt!"
